Advert Rough 1

This is the an advert that will work alongside our final music video. We have included the digipak front cover, and other elements that we researched that were conventions of a rock genre's album advert.

We have incorporated a the 'burn' mark as we it linked with the newspaper element in our music video. We didn't want the advert to contradict what the narrative showed in the music video, and because of this we have introduced some of the music video's aspects in with our a auxiliary texts.

As for the main image on the advert, we needed the performers that were included in our music video, to make everything look more professional and convincing for the audience. The same people (Matt & Doug) have been used throughout this coursework, in the advert and the music video mostly, however we did have aspects of the narrative in the digipak design also.

Contact Sheet & Advert

This is the contact sheet of photographs that were taken in the studio for our photoshoot. The photographs are lightly over exposed but this did not affect the way in which we used the photograph.

The photo we used was dragged into Photoshop and the levels are altered to add more contrast to the image. After this, we used the blending options to overlay the image to the paper background. This background was a found image from google and so was the burn image. The burn image was edited so there was a hole in the image where the hole in the paper would have been. A hole in the paper image was created and the burn was added to the page. Once this had been done the burn tool was used to put more emphasis on the burn. The text was added and so was the album art work that we had previously created. Once this had been done a drop shadow effect was added to the album artwork so the image did not look like it had just been stuck on the page. The shadow gave the effect it was lifted from the page.

Rough Cut 4

This is another product after 3 rough cuts, and this is yet another edit. In comparison to the other rough cuts that we have completed, this hasn't got any of the minor errors that the other attempts had. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this product, however had we have had more time, it could have been completed better. There are certain aspects of this music video that do look professional, although not all. There are also certain frames and shots that we shouldn't have filmed and some shots that we should have considered filming to make the narrative more appealing and understandable. However, some of the bad aspects of this video will be explained in the evaluation.

Digipak Rough 2

After looking at the digipak design we realised that the inner spine needed to be filled in with the same grey as the outside spine. The back leaf of te digipak had the track list which was originally difficult to read on the pale grey sky. This problem was solved when we used the burn tool to darken the sky. We did it this way because we didn't want to change the colour of the text, keeping the colour consistent. Below is the second digipak rough design:
