Equipment Research

Above is a video, demonstrating the capabilities of the camera we wil be using to record. We are using a Canon EOS 550D with a range of lenses.

We chose this camera because it allows us to film in dark conditions without producing too much grain. We can alter the ISO of the camera before we begin filming, which is ideal for the lighting conditions that we would like to shoot in. With a combination of Final Cut's features and the ISO of the camera when recording, we should be able to create a fairly grain-free video with post production alterations.

In comparison to the panasonic video cameras we used for our filming last year, the image quality is much higher, meaning the music video is going to look less low budget than previous work. Another feature that we will make use of is the manual focus on the leses. This will allow us to create pull focus shots as well as more refined focus on the subjects.
