Our Lip Sync

To do this Lip Sync task, we were in a group of four. I think that the more people in our group the harder it was to decide on a song to mime to, because we continuously hit problems of one member didn’t know the lyrics to the song etc. One group member stayed behind the camera and we found that this was a good idea because this member didn’t know the song as well as other members. We gave Lauren the easier beginning part to the song as it was repetitive and easy to remember and she came across enthusiastic, Lauren wasn’t as familiar with the song as me and Amber (other member) so we decided that we should do the more complex parts and this would save time. Rather than letting the person who was least familiar to the complex parts as then we would be making mistakes and this would lead to more editing and more time recording.

This task went worse than expected as it’s much harder than you think to mime to a song even if you’re familiar with it. If we were given the option to reshoot we would include more camera angles. As on occasions we could have moved the camera to give more angles of the mime. After editing the shots that we recorded we think that we could have been more adventurous and I think that this would have led to a better video. However, considering that one member didn’t know the song, we think that this couldn’t have gone better and this one person did great considering that she didn’t know the song at all before we started this task. We are happy with our song choice on a whole, but we just wished that we’d experimented with the camera a bit more and got more interesting shots/angles.

We make sure that the official audio was in sync with our visuals we used the markers and then lines everything up, we done this to make sure that everything matched up. We unlinked the audio from the visual because we only needed the official track to be synced. Besides if we needed to use the audio that we recorded then it wouldn’t have been the highest quality because we used a portable device to mime the lyrics and when watching it back the audio was very crackly. The screen grab to the right was our audio and you can see the close sound waves and this shows that our audio wasn’t the best compared the official soundtrack below. Ambient noise contributed to our audio and not the official track, the real sound waves look neater and so we were able to match our visuals up and delete ours audio that we recorded.
The screenshot to the left is the song that we chose to use for our Lip Sync task, this song is a Melodic Rock genre and genre that we are most likely to use for our music video. his is where we faded out our official audio. We needed to do this because we didn’t lip sync the whole song because there was no need to as we were only instructed to records 1 minute to half of the song. I think that it was also important for us to fade out our song because we used a Rock song and it would have ended abruptly otherwise.
This was the media that we imported onto Final Cut to use in our Lip Sync Task. All of the durations that this screenshot shows were edited and cut to make it appropriate for the video, so this seems like the overall video should be longer than it is.
